STATE CHECKLIST

Before your appointment.

Vermont learners may take the permit test at age 15; the permit is issued after passing the online test and paying required fees.

A valid permit allows driving anywhere and anytime in Vermont with an unimpaired qualified adult in the front seat.

Vermont’s junior-license path requires 40 practice hours, including 10 at night, in addition to driver education behind-the-wheel hours.
