Before your appointment.

Kansas instructional permits begin at age 14 after a vision and written examination, unless an approved driver-education authorization is used.

A permit holder may drive only with a licensed adult at least 21 who has at least one year of driving experience seated in front.

Kansas states that an instruction permit expires in one year and may be renewed with testing; plan review before the expiration date.
