Before your appointment.
Ohio’s temporary instruction permit identification card (TIPIC) process begins with vision screening and a knowledge test at age 15 years 6 months.
The manual says a passing knowledge test must be followed by purchasing the TIPIC within 60 days.
The official manual separates maneuverability and on-road skills testing from knowledge preparation.
Permit eligibility, documents, fees, and appointment details can change. Confirm those details with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles before you go.
