STATE CHECKLIST

Before your appointment.

Missouri’s Class F instruction permit starts with written, vision, and road-sign recognition testing at a Highway Patrol examination station.

The written test is 25 questions and requires 80 percent, or 20 correct answers, to obtain the instruction permit.

To graduate to an intermediate license, Missouri generally requires a permit held at least 182 days, 40 hours of instruction including 10 at night, and a clean recent record as specified by DOR.
