Before your appointment.
Kentucky permit applicants must be at least 15 for the written and vision tests; after passing, the permit is issued through the regional licensing office.
A permit holder must complete at least 60 supervised hours, including 10 at night, and have a licensed driver age 21 or older in the front passenger seat.
The permit must be held at least 180 days and the driver must be at least 16 before applying for an intermediate license.
