Before your appointment.
A Delaware learner’s permit is issued after eye screening and knowledge exams and is valid for six months.
During permit practice, a qualified licensed driver at least 21 must occupy the seat beside the learner; no more than two other passengers may ride.
After passing the Class D knowledge exam, Delaware requires at least 10 days before the road skills exam.
Permit eligibility, documents, fees, and appointment details can change. Confirm those details with Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles before you go.
